Internet does not Forget

The Story of an Old Dispute with Gamal Eid—One I Thought Had Ended Click here for details on the Internet Archive website.

Many internet users are unaware that the web possesses an archive or, more precisely, a well-known site called the “Internet Archive.” This repository stores billions of different web pages and websites—including those that vanished completely years ago and no longer exist. Furthermore, for some pages, multiple versions corresponding to various edits are recorded—each timestamped with the date of the modification—thereby documenting not only the content of the page but also its historical evolution, in a format that cannot be altered. The only exception is if a page’s publisher wishes to exclude it from the archive; in such cases, they must insert specific code to prevent its archival. The Internet Archive proves invaluable in numerous scenarios, including thwarting attempts to falsify history or to deny the occurrence of specific events—as well as the information previously published regarding them.
